Removal Of Left Drive Shaft

Use a screwdriver to remove (pry) driveshaft from transaxle.
Installation
1.
Insert driveshaft into transaxle, being sure to properly align the serrations.
2.
Push driveshaft, then press fit circular clip on the driveshaft into circular clip groove of side gear.
3.
After is it inserted, try to pull flange out of side joint by hand to make sure that the circular clip is properly meshed with side gear and will not
come out.
4.
Insert other end of shaft through steering hub/knuckle assembly.
5.
Torque the 3 lower ball joint nuts to 76-109 Nm (56-80 ft lb).
6.
Install the tie-rod outer sockets and torque to 29-39 Nm (29-39 ft lb).
7.
Torque the strut to knuckle bolts to 112-124 Nm (82-91 ft lb).
8.
Install washer, tighten wheel bearing lock nut to 235-314 Nm (174-231 ft lb), then install adjusting cap, new cotter pin, and dust cap.
9.
Attach brake caliper and torque to 22-31 Nm (16-23 ft lb).
10.
Torque strut mounting bolts in engine compartment to 31-42 Nm (23-31 ft lb).
11.
Repeat procedure for other side if driver's side driveshaft was removed.
12.
Install wheel(s) and torque lug nuts to 78-98 Nm (58-72 ft lb).
13.
Apply sealant to transaxle drain plug and torque to 15-20 Nm (11-14 ft lb).
14.
Check transmission fluid level by removing speedometer pinion gear and add necessary GL-4 gear oil to bring the fluid level within 9 mm (0.35
in) of the top of the pinion.
