Service Procedure

1. Replace the front brake pads and shims.

^ Use the parts listed in the PARTS INFORMATION section.

^ Refer to section BR in the Service Manual for front brake pad replacement information.

SERVICE NOTES

^ Follow all CAUTIONS in the Service Manual for removing and replacing brake pads and shims.

^ Use an environmentally appropriate Brake Cleaner to remove any old grease and/or brake dust from the "torque member" (Nissan Brake Cleaner is

recommended). Consult local environmental regulations to decide which brake cleaner to use.

^ DO NOT GET ANY GREASE ON THE BRAKE PAD "FRICTION" SURFACES.

^ The new pad retainers have double-sided tape. Before installing the new retainers:

a) Thoroughly clean and dry the torque member.

b) Don't touch double-face tape on pad retainer after removing the release paper (red)

c) Peel and stick the pad retainers to the torque member.

^ New grease comes in the kit and is used with this hardware:

a) Grease application on pad shim (Black type):

Confirm there is no contamination on the application area of pad shim where grease is applied (Fig. 1), clean if necessary. Apply black grease on
the pad shim uniformly (grease should cover whole area not so that shim color is not visible).

b) Grease application on pad retainer. (Brown type):
