Differential Axle Housing: Service and Repair

Fig. 6  Rear Axle Replacement.

1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

Disconnect brake hydraulic line and parking brake cable.

3.

Support axle with suitable jack.

4.

Disconnect stabilizer rod, upper and lower links and the panhard rod from body Fig. 6.

5.

Disconnect propeller shaft.

6.

Remove upper shock absorber attaching nuts.

7.

Lower jack slowly until coil spring are extended fully.

8.

Reverse procedure to install. When tightening rubber parts, vehicle should be in unloaded condition with tires on ground.
