Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Remove the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner.
3. Remove accelerator linkage, spring and bracket.
4. Disconnect fuel line at carburetor.
5. Disconnect cruise control chain if equipped.
6. Drain engine coolant.
7. Remove upper radiator hose.
8. Remove heater hose.
9. Remove coolant by pass hose.
10. Disconnect booster vacuum pipe at manifold.
11. Remove vacuum hoses at carburetor or throttle body to vacuum manifold.
12. Disconnect transaxle vacuum modulator line from distributor, temperature sending unit and CCC harness if equipped.
13. Remove distributor cap and rotor to access torx head bolt. Use J24394 to remove bolt.
14. Remove accessory mounting brackets as required.
15. Remove intake manifold bolts.
16. Remove intake manifold.
17. Clean all gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and cylinder heads.
