Sunroof Sunshade Panel - Squeak Noise

SUBJECT:
SQUEAK FROM SUNROOF SUNSHADE PANEL
MODELS:
ALL 405 "S" AND "Mil6" VEHICLES UP TO VIN 506167
COMPLAINT:
A slight. squeaking noise may occur during vehicle movement only. This noise is caused by slight relative movement between
the sliding sunshade panel and the sunroof assembly frame.
REPAIR:
Remove sunshade sliding panel, modify as shown below, and reinstall.

SUNSHADE PANEL REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Open the sunroof (slide it backwards).

Remove the three (3) forward screws on both the left and right sunshade panel side slides.

Move the mobile panel to the halfway open position, so that, the front of the mobile panel is 18 cm from the rear edge of the roof panel cut-out.

Stick your head through the opening and carefully bend down the front edge of the sunshade panel so that you can look backwards between the
mobile panel and the sunshade panel to locate the two
(2)
rear stops on the sunshade panel (See Fig. 3).

Insert a long screwdriver (with shank length of 45 cm minimum and a wide blade approximately 20 mm) between the mobile panel and the
sunshade panel.

With the screwdriver blade centered between the two (2) stops, give the screwdriver a twisting motion. This will lower the sunshade panel in
relation to the mobile panel, the rear stops will clear and the sunshade panel can be slid forward.

From outside the vehicle, very carefully bend the front of the sunshade panel slightly upward to clear the front roof panel opening edge.
