SUBJECT:
NOISE WHEN CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWER IS OPERATED
MODELS:
1989 405 VEHICLES (Revised copy. Please discard old bulletin)
COMPLAINT:
Noise that increases or decreases, depending upon climate control blower speed, may occur if leaves are blown in through the air intake and rub against
the blower cage.
Leaves may also plug the cowl drain holes, resulting in water entry into the Motronic ECU (if not sealed according to Service Bulletin No. 335, Class 1).
REPAIR:
Install weatherstrip (P/N 0086.28) along the cowl to prevent leaf entry. This cowl weatherstrip will be installed in production on all 1990 405 vehicles.
PART REQUIRED:
1 Weatherstrip 1094 mm long, P/N 0086.28
DEALER ACTION:
Install this weatherstrip on all 1989 405 vehicles at P.D.I. or during routine maintenance or warranty repairs.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
Install weatherstrip onto the upper cowl edge at the front of the plastic air intake grille.
Paint both ends of the weatherstrip with black touch-up paint to prevent corrosion.
Make sure the lip on the weatherstrip is facing rearward (toward the windshield), as shown in Figure 1 below:
