Remove screws (4) and cover plate.

Carefully remove plunger assembly (5). Set aside in a clean, lint-free towel. Be sure not to touch the machined surfaces of the plunger
assembly with your fingers.

Discard old shuttle valve spring (6).
PROCEDURE - Reassembly

Install new spring (P/N 0025.79), plunger assembly, cover plate, and screws in reverse order of disassembly.
NOTE:
The original shuttle valve spring on some 1989 model vehicles is substantially longer than, and can be replaced by, the new spring.

Place the gearshift lever in low gear (position "1").

Check the relative positions of the sector cams (7) and (8) in the transmission. Faces (A) and (B) must be aligned.
