Wheel Bearing: Adjustments

ANGLE CONTACT BALL BEARINGS

1.

Raise and support front of vehicle.

2.

Remove wheel.

3.

Remove hub dust cap and nut.

4.

Install new nut and pretorque to 22 ft. lbs. (3 m-kg).

5.

Loosen nut and torque to 7.2 ft. lbs. (1 m-kg).

6.

Lock nut in the two grooves provided.

TAPER ROLLER BEARINGS

1.

Raise and support front of vehicle.

2.

Remove wheel.

3.

Remove hub dust cap and nut.

4.

Install new nut.

5.

While rotating hub torque nut to 29 ft. lbs. (4 m-kg).

6.

Loosen axle nut then retorque to 7.23 ft. lbs. (1 m-kg).
