Rear Knuckle: Service and Repair
Installation
1. Install the knuckle on the lower ball joint. Install the flat washer and a NEW nut on the stud of the lower ball joint.
2. Install the trailing link on the knuckle. Install the nut and bolt attaching the trailing link to the isolator bushing in the knuckle. Do not tighten the
bolt at this time. The rear suspension must be supporting the weight of the vehicle when this bolt is tightened.
3. Install the lateral links on the knuckle. Do not tighten the attaching bolts at this time. The rear suspension must be supporting the weight of the
vehicle when this bolt is tightened.
NOTE: When tightening the ball joint stud to knuckle attaching nut using Adapter, Special Tool C-3705, or equivalent the torque reading on the
torque wrench will be lower then the specified torque for the attaching nut. To obtain the specified torque of 128 Nm (95 ft. lbs.) on the attaching
nut the torque reading on the torque wrench will be 85 Nm (63 ft. lbs.).
