11. Rear frame bolts. 
12. Power steering lines clamp from steering gear.
13. Power steering return hose from cooler pipe.
14. Cooler pipe from steering gear.
15. Cooler pipe.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Cooler pipe.
2. Cooler pipe to steering gear.
3. Power steering return hose and clamp to cooler.
4. Power steering lines clamp to steering gear.
5. Raise frame and align steering gear stub shaft to intermediate shaft.
6. New frame bolts. 
7. Remove jack stands from frame.
8. Power steering cooler pipe retaining clamps to frame.
9. Engine and transaxle mount retaining nuts to frame. 

10. Both tie rod ends and nuts to steering knuckles. Refer to POWER STEERING GEAR UNIT REPAIR.
11. Tighten right side engine splash shield. 

CAUTION:  When installing the intermediate shaft make sure the shaft is seated prior to pinch bolt installation. If the pinch bolt is inserted into
the coupling before shaft installation, the two mating shafts may disengage.

NOTICE:  Set steering shaft so block tooth on upper steering shaft is at the 12 o'clock position, wheels on vehicle are straight ahead and set
ignition switch to LOCK position. Failure to follow these procedures could result in damage to the SIR coil.

12. Intermediate shaft lower bolt.

-

Tighten bolt to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).

13. Both front wheel and tire. 
14. Lower vehicle.
15. Remove J 28467-A, J 28467-90 and J 36462.
16. Air cleaner and duct.

Important:  Bleed power steering system. Refer to BLEEDING POWER STEERING SYSTEM. See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Service
and Repair

Inspect

-

For leaks. Refer to STEERING TESTING AND INSPECTION PROCEDURES.

Power Steering Gear Lines (Right or Left)

Tools Required: 
-

J 28467-A Engine Support Fixture 

-

J 28467-90 Adapters

-

J 36462 Adapter Leg

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Air cleaner and duct. 
2. Install J 28467-A J 28467-90 and J 36462.
3. Raise and suitably support vehicle. Refer to VEHICLE LIFTING.
4. Right and left front wheel and tire. 
5. Electrical connection to steering gear pressure switch.

CAUTION:  Failure to disconnect intermediate shaft from power steering gear stub shaft can result in damage to steering gear and/or intermediate
shaft. This damage can cause loss of steering control which could result in personal injury.

NOTICE:  Set steering shaft so block tooth on upper steering shaft is at the 12 o'clock position, wheels on vehicle are straight ahead and set
ignition switch to LOCK position. Failure to follow these procedures could result in damage to the SIR coil.

6. Intermediate steering shaft lower bolt. 
7. Loosen right side engine splash shield. 
8. Both left and right side tie rod nuts and tie rods from steering knuckles. Refer to POWER STEERING GEAR UNIT REPAIR. 
9. Support rear of frame, using jack stands.

NOTICE:  Do not lower rear of frame too far as damage to engine components nearest to the cowl may result.
