General Information:
The purpose of this bulletin is to aid the technician in diagnosis and repair of Alpine radios CD-2, CR-1 and CDC-1 remote CD changer The following
listed conditions are considered field repairable.
A.
Missing or damaged felt in the disc slot.
B.
Blank display or radio goes to "code" in display.
C.
Tape or CD does not play properly or will not eject at times.
D.
Notes on thermal protection.
Repair hints for each condition listed above are given in the following work procedure. Please adhere to these work procedures prior to replacing
radio/CD units. As usual, if the radio must be replaced, a radio check sheet must be completely filled out. (Refer to Technical Bulletin Group 9, Number
9202, dated August 11, 1992.)
Work Procedure:
A. Missing or damaged felt in the disc slot
CD-1 or CD-2 radios with missing or damaged felt can be field repaired. A new face plate is available:
Part Number: PNA 645 003 = CD-1 face plate
PNA 645 004 = CD-2 face plate
Proceed as follows:
Step 1: Remove three Phillips screws on each side of CD-1 /2 which retain the top cover and locking mounts.
Step 2: Remove one Phillips screw from each side which is located under the locking mounts.
