Step 3: Lift cover for CD-1 /2 up in the rear portion of the player and remove. (Be sure this is done in a dirtfree area, the internal portion of the player is
now exposed.)

Step 4: Remove volume knob, balance knob and both tone slide knobs. Remove one Phillips screw on each side which retains face plate to the player.

Step 5: To install, reverse procedure.

NOTE:
All screws which must be removed are the same.

B. Blank display or radio goes to code in display

A blank display is most frequently caused by a voltage drop (approximately 7 volts or less) to the radio which occurs as the vehicle engine is being
cranked. Proceed as follows:

Step 1: Check the vehicle battery as per the battery check sheet and the proper function of charging system. Be certain all connections are clean and tight.

Step 2: Disconnect the harness plug from the radio unit. Check connectors for proper crimping and tightness. Check for system voltage during cranking.
Disconnecting and reconnecting the harness plug for the radio will usually restore the display and the radio can then be coded and returned to use.

C. Tape or CD does not play properly and/or may not eject at times.

If this occurs, the opening for the radio in the console or dash panel may be slightly undersized. This may cause the eject or play mechanism to bind due
to excessive pressure on the radio casing.

If an excessive amount of force is needed to remove or install the radio, the opening for the radio mount may require slight modification. Care must be
taken not to remove too much material from around the mounting frame for the radio. The radio should fit securely without binding during installation.

D. CD2 Players and CDC-1 Changers are equipped with thermal (overheat) protection sensors.
