After existing supplies of the previous parts have been used up, the new parts can be used as replacements for all 911 Carrera (996) and 911 Carrera
4(996) engine types M96.01, M96.02, and M96.04.

A mixed configuration is not permissible, as the parts are matched with each other. The previous chain tensioner, part No. 996 105 180 54, is still
available and may continue to be used on engines that have the previous style drive chain installed.

The marking on the head of the chain tensioner is unchanged (1-ring, arrow).

New intermediate shaft seal.

There is a wider groove in the intermediate shaft to accommodate the new sealing ring. The new sealing ring is rectangular (previously: O-ring) and
approx. 4 mm wide on the sealing surface (arrow, figure 3).
