Work Procedure:

Connect the PIWIS Tester to the vehicle and switch it on.

Switch on ignition.

Call up the - 'Diagnosis' menu and select vehicle type - 'Cayman'.

Select 'Instrument cluster' in the --> 'Control units' menu and confirm by pressing >>.

Select 'Special function' in the --> 'Cayman instrument cluster function selection' menu and confirm by pressing >>.

Select 'Reset service interval' in the --> 'Cayman instrument cluster special function' menu and confirm by pressing >> .

Select the model year [MY < 08] and confirm your selection by pressing >>.

Select the unit for the distance [km] or [miles] and confirm your selection by pressing >>.
The service interval is reset and the following message appears: "Writing service interval, please wait...".

Once the service interval has been reset, the following message appears: "Service interval was written, press >> to continue" and "Function
completed successfully".
Confirm the message by pressing >>.

INFORMATION   
After resetting the service interval, the distance travelled and the time since vehicle handover to the customer must be programmed into the
instrument cluster so that the "Service in km/days" and "Service now" message in the instrument cluster corresponds to the details in the Warranty
& Maintenance booklet   Continue with Step 10.

Press << to return to the --> 'Cayman instrument cluster function selection' menu.

Select 'Control unit replacement' in the --> 'Cayman instrument cluster function selection' menu and confirm by pressing >>.

Select 'Distance travelled since last inspection' in the --> 'Cayman instrument cluster control unit replacement' menu and confirm by pressing >>.

The distance stored in the instrument cluster is displayed. Press >> to continue.

Check the stored distance and correct it if necessary.
The distance travelled must be entered again using the keypad.
To do this, first delete the dummy string of digits ("00000") shown in the appropriate field and enter the five-digit distance.

Code the distance you entered into the instrument cluster by pressing F8.

Once the distance has been programmed into the instrument cluster, the message "Value was written" appears.
Press >> to acknowledge the message.
The distance you entered is displayed again.

Press << to return to the --> 'Cayman instrument cluster control unit replacement' menu.

Select 'Time (in days) since last inspection' in the --> 'Cayman instrument cluster control unit replacement' menu and confirm by pressing >> .

The time in days stored in the instrument cluster is displayed. Press I»I to continue.

Enter the date on which the vehicle was handed over to the customer.
To do this, overwrite the default current date with the actual date of vehicle handover to the customer using the keypad.

Code the date you entered into the instrument cluster by pressing F8. The time in days is calculated automatically from the entered date.

Once the date has been coded into the instrument cluster, the message "Value was written" appears.
The calculated time in days is displayed.

Press << to return to the --> 'Control units' menu (list of control units).

Select 'Special functions' in the --> 'Control units' menu and confirm by pressing >>.

Select 'All fault memories' in the --> 'Cayman special functions function selection' menu and confirm by pressing >>.
The fault memories of the control units are read out.

Once the fault memories of the control units have been read out, press >> to display the faults stored in the fault memories.
Fault memory entries that are caused by the coding in the instrument cluster (e.g. "Instrument cluster communication") can then be deleted.
If other faults are present, these must first be located and corrected.

Press << to return to the -->'Cayman special functions' menu.

Select 'Erase all fault memories' in the --> 'Cayman special functions' menu and confirm by pressing
The faults stored in the fault memories of the various control units are deleted.

Press << to return to the PIWIS Tester Start menu.

Disconnect the PIWIS Tester from the vehicle.

Switch off the ignition.

Switch off and disconnect the battery charger.
