Concerns: 

Customer inquiries concerning sport driving and race circuit use brake pads for:

Standard brake system (steel disc)

Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) (I No.450) (ceramic disc)

Information: 

Porsche based it's choice of pad materials for street vehicles on the usage profile and on the performance expectations of the typical customer. Therefore,
brake pads optimized for street use are installed on street vehicles as standard.

Demands placed on the vehicle brakes by customers, e.g. also for racing use or comfortable driving, can be met only by the use of pads with
appropriately matched pad materials. In order to cover the broadest possible range of uses, two types of brake pads are available for the 911 GT3 (996)
and two types for vehicles equipped with the PCCB.

The pad types are described.

Caution!

Braking effect will be reduced due to the use of mismatched brake pad materials after installation of replacement pads.

If replacing pads, only install Porsche approved pads.

>

If previously recommended brake pads are installed and replacement is required, the original pads and the new approved pads must not be
installed together (not even on same axle).

Caution!

Damage to the brake disk by the pad carrier after brake pad wears out.

Racing pads are not equipped with connections for the brake pad wear indicator.

>

After installation of racing brake pads, the brake pad wear indicator warning light is continually on. The warning light can be suppressed for the
duration of racing-circuit use by installing a jumper plug, part number, 964 612 026 70, on the electrical plug connection on the wheel carrier.

Carry out a visual inspection for sufficient pad thickness when installing and removing racing-circuit pads or before and during racing-circuit use.

Standard Brake Pad For Sporty Driving (street and sport use)

Installation: Standard Equipment.

Characteristics:
-

Good all-round characteristics, including for sport driving.

-

Good fading stability, e.g. for driving over mountain passes.

-

Suitable for circuit use. However, this entails very high operating temperatures and results in higher pad wear compared to the pad for circuit use.
