911 Targa (996) F6-3.6L (2004)
Manual transmissions and Tiptronic drive shafts also differ with regard to length in both the monobloc version -A- and the friction-welded version -B-.
To distinguish between the two, new drive shafts are labeled accordingly.
A Friction-welded drive shaft. -4- = Friction-welded seam. Dimensions: -1- approximately 28 mm / -2- approximately 34 mm / -3- approximately
10.2 mm.
B Monobloc drive shaft. Dimensions: -1- approximately 34 mm / -2- approximately 28 mm / -3- approximately 10.2 mm.
Repairs
The friction-welded drive shafts are still available. When replacements are required, the friction-welded drive shafts are to be installed up to the time
that monobloc drive shafts are introduced (in the current '02 model).
The fastening screws (generally M10) differ with regard to length.
