Removing/fitting connecting link

9. Remove wheel bearing housing together with drive shaft.

To pull the ball-joint pin out of the wheel bearing housing, pull the transverse control arm down evenly with both hands while swivelling the wheel
bearing housing outwards. Get another person to help you with this.

Installing wheel bearing housing

Use new screws and lock nuts.

Use Optimoly HT to lightly grease the drive shaft toothing (in the wheel bearing housing) and the axle nut thread.

Observe correct tightening torques. Please note: Do not grease threaded connections in Dacromet finish - aluminium color!

1. Insert wheel bearing housing together with drive shaft.

To insert the ball-joint pin into the wheel bearing housing, pull the transverse control arm down evenly with both hands while swivelling the wheel
bearing housing inwards. Get a second person to help with this step.

2. Fit connecting link (suspension/stabilizer), spring strut, two upper control arms, toe and lower transverse control arm on the wheel bearing

housing.

2.1.

Fit toe and lower transverse control arm (on the wheel bearing housing).

Special tool insert for torque wrench 9558 can be used to tighten the connection between the lower control arm and wheel bearing housing.

The advantage of this special tool is that it offers better access compared to a commercially available insert.

A different value must be set on the torque wrench if insert 9558 is used! The nominal value 75 Nm (56 ftlb.) on the lock nut corresponds to a
setting on the torque wrench of approx. 55 Nm (41 ftlb.).

Tightening torque: 75 Nm (56 ftlb.)

or if insert 9558 is used

Tightening torque: 55 Nm (41 ftlb.)

Counter at the ball joint pin when tightening the lock nuts on the ball joints using a screwdriver P 9546 (Torx (screwdriver).

On the 911 Turbo and 911 GT3, fit the spoiler (air guide for brake cooling system) on the diagonal control arm.

2.2.

Fit spring strut on the wheel bearing housing -2-.

Tightening torque: 110 Nm (81 ftlb.)

Fit connecting link for lower anti-roll bar -1- on the wheel bearing housing.

3-step tightening procedure (Step 1: tighten to 50 Nm (37 ftlb.). Step 2: loosen by 90 degrees. Step 3: tighten to 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)).: 65 Nm
