Timing Belt: Adjustments

Adjusting Camshaft Belt Tension With Mechanical Belt Tensioner

Note:  The belt must only be checked and adjusted when the engine is cold (room temperature).

8 Valve Engine

16 Valve Engine

1. 

Turn crankshaft slowly clockwise until TDC marking (cylinder 1) on the camshaft drive wheel is level with the marking on the rear belt cover.

Note:  While turning, check belt for wear and damage.

The TDC marking on the flywheel must also be in line.
