Systems requiring permission

According to the regulations laid forth in section 24 GewO as to hazard potential, certain systems require explicit permission for usage. Examples of
these systems include boilers, filling devices for pressurized gas containers, certain elevators, acetylene systems and systems for combustible liquids. If
systems requiring permission are components of a system requiring authorization according to BlmSCHG, then the permit will be issued with
authorization. According to section 7 WHG (German Federal Water Act), water usage systems can also require permission.

Systems subject to approval

Systems which are used for commercial purposes and could, due to the usage of machines and devices, operating methods, furnishings or other factors,
pose a hazard to the lives or health of the business operator and other involved family members, neighbors, customers, the property or other real rights of
the neighbors; could pose a nuisance to neighbors due to odors, noise, smoke, dust, vibration or other factors; could hinder religious practice in churches,
lessons in schools, operation of hospitals and treatment facilities or the use or operation of other neighboring institutions serving the public interest;
could significantly hinder the safety and flow of traffic on or along public streets, or could have an adverse effect on the quality of bodies of water if this
does not require approval anyhow due to water regulations. According to section 4 of the BlmSCHG and the corresponding plant regulations,
establishment and operation of these plants is subject to approval.

TCDD

Tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin, one of the chlorodioxins (See: Dioxins). There are a total of 22 isomer dioxin compounds with four chlorine atoms. TCDD
is one of the most toxic chemical compounds known but there are several naturally (biogenically) created compounds that are more poisonous.

Technical Inspection Associations

Abbreviation: T/V. Self-monitoring associations for the prevention of accidents and damage in industrial plants (e.g. boilers). The centers for technical
inspection of automobiles are connected to these associations in part.

Technology

The trade of acquiring, developing and processing building materials and raw materials, the chemical treatment in chemical technology and the physical
treatment in physical technology. Technological testing is part of material testing.

Temperature

Temperature is:

1. General: the bodily perception of heat and coldness, a measure of the heat content of a body.
2. Climatology: the air temperature as measured by a thermometer that is protected from radiation and well ventilated in thermal conduction

equilibrium with the surrounding air.

Tensides

Surface active substances (e.g. See: Soaps, Washing agents) with elongated asymmetrical polar structure and with one hydrophobic and one hydrophilic
molecule part (makes water-soluble, e.g. sulfate, sulfonate group). In sewage and water treatment plants, biodegradable tensides are subject to biological
decomposition and lose their surface activity in the process. Biologically hard tensides are only biodegradable to an insufficient extent. The effect of
tensides, namely wetting, emulsification and washing, is based on the tendency towards oriented adsorption on surfaces, wherein the hydrophobic group
of the tenside molecule (usually hydrocarbon chain) strives to project out of the aqueous phase.

The Green Dot

This symbol is a trademark of Duales System Deutschland GmbH (DSD) for taking back and utilizing used packaging materials (See: Packaging
regulations). Licensees are manufacturers or distributors, which print the green dot symbol on the packaging that they place on the market in order to
distinguish themselves as participants in the Duales System Deutschland program. These manufacturers and distributors pay scaled licensing fees to DSD
for retrieval and recycling of the packaging that they place on the market.
