7. Remove the differential.

Note:
The adjusting shim is calibrated and cannot be exchanged for a different shim.

1. Remove outer bearing ring -1- and adjusting shim -2- from the transmission housing by hand.

Note:
Hook VW 681 must be fitted behind both sealing lips of the sealing ring because fitting it on the outer circumference of the sealing ring can damage
the contact surface in the transmission housing. Guide the tool carefully while pulling out.

2. Carefully pull out sealing ring with hook VW 681.
