Fabricate two pierced rods as shown, Fig. 6.

Remove collar (5), Fig. 7, by engaging ends of collar in rods and squeezing rods.

Remove collar, then loosen and remove rods.
4.
Remove as much grease as possible, then remove the bell shaped stub axle from the driveshaft by raising the arms of the starplate retainer one at a
time. Retain thrust ball and spring. Do not twist the arms of the starplate.
5.
Place driveshaft in suitable vise and fully engage tool T.Av. 537-02 or equivalent on shaft yoke, sanding inside of cylindrical part of tool as
necessary.

Using clean motor oil, carefully and generously lubricate tool T.Av 537-02 and the inner part of boot, especially small end.
7.
Place boot on end of tool and, with rag in one hand, place hand on boot and smooth out first fold.
8.
While standing behind tool, put one hand around the other and pull, being careful not to refold first fold of boot.
9.
Bring boot as close as possible to cylindrical part of tool and let it return halfway back.
10.
Repeat step 9 several times (5 maximum) in order to soften rubber of boot, applying additional lubricant to arms of tool as necessary.
11.
When sliding has become noticeably easier, quickly and firmly slip boot onto cylindrical part of tool.
12.
Place spring and thrust ball joint in spider and bring roller cages toward center, then position retaining starplate, ensuring each arm bisects the
angles formed by the spider.
