Operation

Battery voltage is supplied to the main relay coil on a G/K wire from fuse 14 in the passenger compartment fuse box. Since the other side of the main relay coil is earthed, the relay contacts will close and switch battery voltage from link 5 in the engine compartment fuse box on a N/W wire to the ignition sense of the ECM on a K/G wire.

Fuel cut-off solenoid relay As a result of receiving the ignition sense signal, the fuel cut off solenoid relay coil receives an earth on the K wire from the ECM. The relay is energised, since it already has battery voltage on the other side of the relay coil on the G/K wire from fuse 14 in the passenger compartment fuse box.

ECM positive feed Battery voltage from fuse 5 in the engine compartment fuse box on the N/W wire is switched via the closed contacts of the fuel cut off solenoid relay on the N/O wire to the ECM positive feed. Simultaneously battery voltage is also switched on N/O wires to the glow plug relay coil, EGR solenoid, fuel cut-off solenoid, injector timing solenoid, mass air flow sensor and fuel injection pump.

Fuel cut-off solenoid The fuel cut-off solenoid, attached to the fuel injection pump, is controlled by the ECM on the W wire.

Injector timing solenoid The injector timing solenoid, attached to the fuel injection pump, is controlled by the ECM on the N/S wire.

Glow plug and relay As a result of receiving the ignition sense signal, the glow plug relay output supplies an earth on the U/B wire to the other side of the glow plug relay coil. The relay is energised and switches battery voltage on the N/S wire from link 5 in the engine compartment fuse box to the glow plugs on the Y/B wire via the closed contacts of the glow plug relay.
