Central door locking (CDL) › Unlocking
Description and operationUnlocking

Central door locking can also be achieved by locking the driver’s door with the key or by pushing down the driver’s door locking button from inside the car. The passenger’s door can be locked by use of the key; also, any of the doors other than the driver’s door can be locked by pressing down the interior locking buttons, without operating the central locking system.

Unlocking

The car can be unlocked by pressing the LH button on the handset.

When the button is pressed, all four doors are unlocked and the hazard lights give one long flash. The system can also be unlocked by using the key in the driver’s door. Provided that the interior lamp switch is set to the central (NORMAL) position, the lamp will illuminate when the car is unlocked and remain illuminated for either 16 seconds after all the doors are closed, or until the starter switch is turned to position ’II’.

NOTE: The interior lamp will not illuminate when the car is unlocked with the key. The ECU must see a signal from the handset or key access code before it provides an earth path for the CCU.

Inertia switch operation (K, T and L Series cars) In the event of a severe crash, all four doors will be unlocked by the operation of the inertia switch, which is fed from fuse H in the engine compartment fuse box on a PK wire. A supply is then fed to the Alarm ECU on a G wire, which will cause the door lock motors to drive to the unlocked position.

Inertia switch operation (D Series cars) In the event of a severe crash, all four doors will be unlocked by the operation of the inertia switch. Under normal operating conditions, when the contacts of the inertia switch are closed, power is supplied to the alarm ECU from the ignition switch on a B/R wire and via fuse 24 in the passenger compartment fuse box, on a B/Y wire.

The alarm ECU causes the door lock motors to drive to the unlocked position when it senses that the inertia switch contacts have opened.
