If the fault is present when the ignition is switched ON, a fault code is stored in the TCM memory and the D4 indicator light in the instrument pack will blink. Access to the TCM memory for fault code retrieval can be gained by the following procedure:

  1. Turn the ignition OFF
  2. Wait ten seconds
  3. Short the pins of the diagnostic connector (SCS)
  4. Turn the ignition ON.

When the pins of the diagnostic connector (SCS) have been shorted and the ignition has been turned ON, the D4 indicator light will indicate the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) by the number of blinks.

The TCM memory can be reset by removing fuse 35 (7.5 amp) in the engine compartment fusebox for more than 10 seconds.

NOTE: Disconnecting fuse 35 also cancels the radio preset stations and the clock setting.
