Cooling Fan Controls
The cooling fans operate when any of the following conditions occur:
- Coolant temperature exceeds 93C.
- The cooling fan timer relay determines that cooling fan operation is required.
Battery voltage is applied at all times from fuse 25 in the engine compartment fusebox to the cooling fan relay. Battery voltage is also applied at all times on the W wires from fuse 30 in the engine compartment fusebox to the cooling fan timer relay. When the ignition is turned on, voltage is applied on the Y/B and Y wires from fuse 7 in the passenger compartment fusebox to the cooling fan relay and the cooling fan timer relay. In addition, when the ignition is turned on, voltage is applied on the B/Y wire from fuse 4 in the passenger compartment fusebox to the cooling fan timer relay.
When coolant temperature exceeds 93C, the radiator fan switch-1 closes and applies earth on the G and U wires to the coil of the cooling fan relay. The relay energises, applying voltage to the cooling fan motor.
When the cooling fan timer relay determines that cooling fan operation is required, it provides earth on the G and U wires to the coil of the cooling fan relay. The relay energises, applying voltage to the cooling fan motor.
