Horizontal adjustment
With the selection switch set for the passenger’s (RHD)/driver’s (LHD) mirror and with the left side of the mirror switch depressed, voltage is fed to the horizontal motor on the Y/R wire. The earth return for the motor is provided on the Y/B wire. The motor will now move to the left. Voltage is also provided on the U/W wire to provide braking for the vertical motor. When the right side of the mirror switch is depressed, the voltage on the Y/R and Y/B wires is reversed and the motor moves to the right. Likewise, earth will now be provided on the U/W wire to provide braking for the vertical motor.
Vertical adjustment
With the selection switch set for the passenger’s (RHD)/driver’s (LHD) mirror and with the lower portion of the mirror switch depressed, voltage is fed to the vertical motor on the Y/R wire. The earth return for the motor is provided on the U/W wire. The motor will now move down. Voltage is also provided on the Y/B wire to provide braking for the horizontal motor. When the upper portion of the mirror switch is depressed, the voltage on the Y/R and U/W wires is reversed and the motor moves up. Likewise, earth will now be provided on the Y/B wire to provide braking for the horizontal motor.
NOTE: The motor that is not in use for the selected mirror has both input terminals connected to either power or earth (same polarity) while the other motor is being driven. This provides regenerative braking for the undriven motor to prevent adjustment overrun during rapid switching between position modes.
