Description and operationSRS (airbag) operation · page 2 of 2

When the pins of the diagnostic connector (SCS) have been shorted and the ignition has been turned on, the SRS indicator will indicate the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) by the number of blinks. The SRS indicator will indicate up to three of the most recent DTC’s. An intermittent fault will be indicated once and the SRS indicator will remain on, and a continuous fault will be indicated repeatedly. If there is an intermittent and a continuous fault, only the DTC of the continuous fault will be indicated. If the system is normal, the SRS indicator will not indicate a DTC and will turn off after a short bulb check period. The ECU memory can be reset by the following procedure:

  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Wait ten seconds.
  3. Short the pins of the diagnostic connector (MES).
  4. Turn the ignition on.
  5. The SRS indicator will light for approximately six seconds and turn OFF. Remove the short from the diagnostic connector (MES) within four seconds.
  6. The SRS indicator will light again. Reconnect the short to the pins of the diagnostic connector (MES) within four seconds.
  7. The SRS indicator indicates that the memory is erased by blinking two times.
