Oil the bearings lightly and preload them as follows:
New bearings: 2.5 +/- 0.5 Nm (1.8 +/- 0.4 lb ft). Bearings that have been in service for more than 2,000 km (1,200 miles): 1.3 +/- 0.5 Nm (0.96
+/- 0.4 lb ft).
When the nut has been tightened to the correct torque, use a drift to peen over the nut.
