Steering Wheel Replacement
Removal Procedure
Note:

Before installation work affecting the airbag, follow the safety instructions for the pyrotechnic systems.
*
The airbag unit must not be forced open and must always be laid with the cushion side facing upwards.
1. Remove the steering wheel airbag module. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement (See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag
Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair).
2. Connect the battery and switch on the ignition for vehicles with Open and Start.

Disregard for vehicles with Open and Start.

Switch off the ignition for vehicles with Open and Start. Open and close the driver door. The steering lock and ignition lock engage
automatically.
3. Lock the steering.

Turn the steering into the straight-ahead position.
*
Remove the ignition key.
*
Allow the steering lock to engage.
4. Disconnect the wiring harness plug (1) for the horn.
