Sizzling or Hissing Type Noise After A/C Use (Install HVAC Module Drain Hose and Clamp)
MODELS AFFECTED:
1991 - 2000 S-Series Saturn Vehicles
CONDITION
Some customers may comment of a sizzling or hissing type noise when the vehicle is parked after A/C has been used.
CAUSE
The condensation made by using the A/C, drains out of HVAC module and runs onto the hot exhaust pipe causing a sizzling or hissing type noise.
CORRECTION
Install HVAC module drain hose and clamp using the procedure in this bulletin.
PROCEDURE
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY
PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO OPPOSITE END OF VEHICLE THAT COMPONENTS ARE REMOVED FROM.
1.
Raise vehicle on a hoist.
2.
From bottom side of vehicle install HVAC module drain hose and clamp (included in kit) on outlet drain of HVAC module.
3.
For LHD vehicles, route end of drain hose to right side of vehicle away from the exhaust as far as possible.
4.
Install wiring harness strap (included in kit) to HVAC module drain hose and one power steering hose.
