Starter Motor: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
2. Disconnect two electrical connectors and position aside, then remove two starter mounting bolts.
3. Pull starter rearward and toward lefthand side of vehicle, then remove from vehicle.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Starter must be guided carefully into flywheel housing and rotated until lower bolt hole in starter flange aligns with mounting hole in engine.
b. Torque starter mounting bolts to 27 ft. lbs.
c. Torque starter solenoid terminal to 44 inch/lbs. and positive terminal to 7.9 ft/lbs.
CAUTION: Excessive torque will crack solenoid end cap.
