Weatherstrip Replacement - Lift Gate

Removal Procedure

1. Open the lift gate.
2. Pull the lift gate weatherstrip from the lift gate opening pinch-weld flange by starting at the joint at the bottom of the lift gate opening.
3. Note the position of this joint for installation.
4. Clean all the adhesive from the lift gate opening pinch-weld flange using GM P/N 8984 adhesive remover or equivalent.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the lift gate weatherstrip over the flange area in position noted in the removal procedure.
2. Press the seal over the flange firmly to seat.
3. Locate an exposed end of the ripcord at the weatherstrip joint and pull the ripcord around the lift gate opening. This process will bring the seal lip

over the lift gate trim.

4. Close the lift gate.
