Removal

STEERING COLUMN: STEERING WHEEL: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag
system before servicing the steering column  See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Service Precautions.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat
belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE STEERING PAD See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Steering Pad/Removal

3. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH See: Cruise Control/Cruise Control Switch/Service and Repair/Removal

4. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH See: Accessories and Optional Equipment/Radio, Stereo, and Compact Disc/Radio/Stereo/Remote

5. REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT

(a) Remove the screw.
(b) Disengage the 2 claws and the pin.
(c) Remove the No.1 steering wheel ornament.

6. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL See: Steering Column/Service and Repair/Removal

7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL LOWER BOSS COVER

(a) Remove the 2 screws.
(b) Disengage the claw and remover the steering wheel lower boss cover.
