Removal
   
–  Pull the safety mechanism of the connection and selection cables forwards -arrow 1-, to the limit, block it, then turn to the left -arrow 2- and separate the cables of the attachments.
  Note!
The attachments -A- or -B- will only be removed from the return level or the selection rod when the selection/connection cables, or the attachments are to be replaced.

–  Unclip the attachments -A- or -B- using an e/c 13 open-ended flat spanner.
  Note!
If necessary, take the air filter off.

–  Unhook the hose -A- of the cable counter support.
–  Remove the gearbox counterhold -arrows-.
–  Loosen the dust sleeve from the frame.

–  Turn the dust sleeve over and remove the gear lever knob, breaking the clip -arrow-.

–  Remove the bolts -arrows- that secure the central console to the protective cover.
–  Remove sump insulation tray: → Body Repairs exterior; Rep. Gr.50.
–  Remove the front exhaust pipe from the intermediate flange of the exhaust system: → 4 cyl. diesel engine, mechanical; Rep. Gr.26.

–  Remove the front beam -arrows- located under the exhaust system.
–  Support the exhaust system from below, between the front and the rear beam.

–  Remove the rear beam -arrows- and unscrew the support with the elastic supporting ring from its connection to the bodywork -A-.
–  Lower the exhaust assembly until it is possible to remove the heat shields.
–  Remove the front and rear heat shields.
–  Remove the screws that fix the protective cover to the bodywork.
–  Remove downwards the protective cover of the gear lever and withdraw it together with the selector cables.
  Note!
Remove the drive mechanism carefully, trying not to damage any mechanical part or the bodywork.
