Removing
  Note
t  Brake fluid is toxic. It should not come into contact with the paintwork due to its corrosive effects.
t  When handling the brake fluid hoses, place a large protective cover or cloth with no loose threads under the clutch master cylinder.
t  The clutch master cylinder is removed from the interior of the vehicle.
t  The clutch pedal bracket must be completely dismantled before removing the clutch master cylinder: However, the cylinder must be removed from the clutch pedal before disassembly.
–  With the ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap.
  Note
For vehicles fitted with a coded radio, first check the anti-theft code
–  Remove engine cover → Booklet2.
–  Remove air cleaner housing; gasoline engines → Rep. Gr.24 and diesel engines → Rep. Gr.23.
   
–  Disconnect replenishment hose -A- to brake fluid reservoir with hose clamp -U 30042-.
–  Place reservoir below master cylinder to catch brake fluid
–  Remove the spring band clamp -D- and loosen the trailing hose -A-.
–  Remove retaining clamps -B- for mounting pipe and hose lines to stop of master cylinder
–  Remove pipe and hose line assembly -C- from master cylinder.
–  Plug master cylinder with lock (plug) for lock circuit -SAT 1211-.
–  Plug pipe/hose assembly with lock (bushing) for clutch circuit -SAT 1210-.
–  Remove footwell cover on driver side → body - inner assembly work; Rep. Gr.68.

–  Disconnect the connector -1- of the clutch pedal switch -F36-.
–  Rotate the clutch pedal switch -F36--2- 45° to the left and pull it out of the position.
Depending on version
  N30-10073
–  Remove clip nut -2-.
–  Unscrew retaining bracket -3- and remove.
–  Push noise insulation -1- to side.

–  Unscrew mounting bolt -3- on clutch pedal stop -2- on bearing bracket and remove stop.
–  Remove the hexagonal nuts -arrows- and extract the support stand -4- from the front panel along with the clutch master cylinder.

Release the clutch pedal from the operation rod as described below:
–  Slightly pull the clutch pedal towards the inside of the vehicle.
–  Press both sides of retaining clip inwards using pliers -T20059B--arrows-.

–  Press actuation rod -B- on master cylinder of clutch in direction of -arrows-.
–  Move clutch pedal completely upward in direction of firewall. This relieves virtually all tension on the over-center helper spring.

–  Slightly compress spring unit -arrow- and remove. Ensure that the spring seat does not detach from the pedal assembly block.
