Removing and installing mounting bracket with clutch pedal but without master cylinder
Removing and installing mounting bracket with clutch pedal but without master cylinder
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
Removal:
–  Remove driver side footwell cover → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.68.
–  If fitted, remove clutch pedal switch -F36- → Chapter.

–  Remove the crash bar, screw -1-.
Observe the nut -2-.

–  Pull bearing shaft -A- for plunger/master cylinder out of clutch pedal in -direction of arrow 1-.
–  Unscrew securing bolts -arrows 2- and remove master cylinder from mounting bracket.

–  Unscrew securing nuts.
–  Remove mounting bracket without master cylinder (figure shows mounting bracket with installed master cylinder).

Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:

Renew self-locking nut.
–  Tighten securing nuts → Item.

–  Install master cylinder to mounting bracket using securing bolts -arrows 1-.
Tightening torque → Item
l  Always renew bearing shaft -A-.
–  Press bearing shaft -A- for plunger/master cylinder into clutch pedal in -direction of arrow 2-.
l  Bearing shaft -A- must audibly engage in clutch pedal.
–  Test bearing shaft by tugging on it.

–  Install the crash bar, screw -1- → Item.
Observe the nut -2-.
–  If previously fitted, install clutch pedal switch -F36- → Chapter.
–  Install driver side footwell cover → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.68.
