Adjuster ring in SAC clutch pressure plate: Resetting
  Note
t  „SAC“ stands for „Self-Adjusting Clutch“.
t  Screw back adjustment ring on pressure plate stop only if a new clutch dick with used SAC pressure plate is installed. If you do not return the adjuster ring in the pressure plate, the SAC pressure plate will operate with reduced clamping force, which will cause excessive wear, especially of the clutch plate (clutch will then slip).
t  If the clutch disk is not replaced, it is not necessary to return the adjustment ring.
t  The new SAC clutch pressure plates are preadjusted at the factory and do not require resetting.

t  Die -VW 412-
  W00-0139
t  Thrust pad -3062-
  W00-0581
Operation process
–  Insert 3 bolts for securing pressure plate -A- into mounting holes on pressure plate at 120° (
1
3
) intervals, as illustrated.
–  Screw the 3 nuts -B--M8- to the bolts -A- and tighten.
  A30-0042
–  Place the SAC pressure plate onto the press so that only the 3 bolt heads -arrows- make contact.
–  Position thrust pad -3062- in the centre of the pressure plate.
  A30-0040
Do not use too much force during the following work sequence, otherwise the forks on the actuator ring can break.
–  Position two screwdrivers at the forks on the actuator ring. Use the press tool to apply pressure to the pressure plate until it is just possible to move the adjuster ring.
–  Using the two screwdrivers, turn back the adjuster ring evenly in -direction of arrows- until it reaches the stop.
–  Hold actuator ring against stop and relieve pressure until actuator ring remains in this position.
