Repair shaft bevel gear mounting > < Renewing O-rings

Removing and installing differential and bevel gear with stub shaft
1)  Adjustment work is required if these components are replaced ⇒ Adjustment overview → Chapter.
   
1 - Rear final drive housing → Note
2 - Stud, 10 Nm
3 - Oil drain plug, 25 Nm
q   With magnet
4 - Oil filler plug, 25 Nm
q   Capacity and specification → Chapter
q   Check gear oil in rear final drive → Chapter
5 - Breather
q   Pull out of rear final drive housing before removing differential → Item
6 - Retainer
q   For wiring harness connector
q   Various versions.
q   Allocation → Electronic parts catalogue (ETKA)
7 - Hexagon bolt, 10 Nm
q   Qty. 2
8 - O-ring
q   Always renew
q   Coat with gear oil when installing
q   Renewing with rear final drive installed → Chapter
9 - Differential, complete
q   Remove with cover → Anchor
q   Install with cover, tightening hexagon head bolts → Item in stages diagonally → Anchor
q   Dismantling and assembling → Chapter
10 - Hexagon bolt, 25 Nm
11 - Right flange shaft
q   Removing → Anchor
q   Drive in with plastic hammer.
12 - Retaining ring
q   Always renew
q   Removing and installing → Fig.
13 - Bevel gear with stub shaft → Note
q   Bevel gear with stub shaft is matched with shaft bevel gear
q   Determine according to gearbox code using → Electronic parts catalogue (ETKA) → Chapter
q   Repairing bearings for bevel gear with stub shaft → Chapter.
14 - O-ring
q   Always renew
q   Coat with gear oil when installing
q   Renewing with rear final drive installed → Chapter
15 - Cover → Note
q   Removing → Anchor
q   Installing → Anchor
16 - Hexagon bolt, 25 Nm
17 - Retaining ring
q   Always renew
q   Removing and installing → Fig.
18 - Left flange shaft
q   Removing → Anchor
q   Drive in with plastic hammer.

   
Use new retaining ring -A- to press old retaining out of groove in flange shaft.
