I = Cover plate of the drive shaft »with« circlip -A- and II = cover plate of the drive shaft made from plastic: Removing and installing (gearbox installed)

The circlip is not required on cover plates of the drive shaft made from plastic -A-. Consult the equivalence table for tools and equipment according to applicability among Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter.

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Thrust piece -T10143-

t	pressure tool -T10180-

t	Extractor kit -T20140-

Removal: –  Raise the vehicle.

–  Remove front left-hand wheel. –  Remove central noise insulation -Fasteners 1 ... 3-. –  Remove noise insulation → Rep. gr.66. Sheet metal cover plate

–  Remove the circlip -A- for the sealing cover of the input shaft.

–  Punch a hole through the middle of the sealing cover rubber of the input shaft using a screwdriver. –  Remove the rubber seal cover from the input drive using the extractor kit -T20140-.

Plastic cover plate Carefully remove all lugs -A-. When doing this, do not damage gearbox housing.

–  Lever out the cover plate. l  Ensure any cover plate components are removed. Installation Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:   Note Always replace the sealing cover and, when applicable, the circlip fitted.

Cover plate identification -I- = sheet metal cover plate; secured with circlip -A- -II- = plastic cover plate; without circlip

Sheet metal cover plate –  Drive sealing cap into gearbox housing onto stop.

–  Secure sealing cover plate with retaining ring -A-.

Plastic sealing cover –  Drive sealing cap into gearbox housing onto stop. Continued for all vehicles l  Always observe sealing cover allocation → Fig.. l  Leak may occur when installed incorrectly l  Sealing cover → Electronic parts catalogue „ETKA“ –  Check hydraulic oil level and top-up if necessary → Chapter.
