  Note
t  Fit the gearbox to the base -T20172/1- along with the tower -T20172/2- and the gear support -T20172/4A- → Chapter.
t  When installing new gears and shafts, refer to → Electronic spare parts catalogue „ETKA“ and technical data → Chapter.
t  Lubricate the bearings, mobile gears and synchromesh rings of the secondary shaft with gear oil.
t  Do not mix up synchromesh rings. If re-using, allocate them to corresponding mobile pinion.
   
1 - clutch housing
2 - Outer track, roller bearing
q   Releasing → Fig.
q   Installing → Fig.
3 - Tapered roller bearing inner race
q   Releasing → Fig.
q   Insertion → Fig.
4 - Input shaft:
q   Adjusting → Chapter
5 - 3rd gear pinion
q   The collar points towards the 4th gear
q   Releasing → Fig.
q   Insertion → Fig.
6 - Circlip
q   Always replace
7 - 4th gear wheel
q   Releasing along with the conical roller bearing socket outer ring and the sleeve → Fig.
q   Insertion → Fig.
q   The collar points towards the 3rd gear
8 - Tapered roller bearing inner race
q   Drive out along with the 4th gear pinion and sleeve → Fig.
q   Insertion → Fig.
9 - Thrust washer
10 - Outer track, roller bearing
q   Releasing → Fig.
q   Insertion → Fig.
11 - Shim
q   Determining thickness → Chapter
12 - Gearbox
13 - Thrust piece
q   For needle bearing
q   Drive out along with the 4th gear pinion and the inner ring of the conical roller bearing socket → Fig.
q   Insertion → Fig.
q   Fit the thrust ring before installing → Item
14 - Needle bearing
15 - 5th gear mobile pinion
q   Remove together with 5th gear synchronising hub
16 - Wave spring washer
q   With gearboxes manufactured from week 22/2008
q   Only install spring washers whose ends are not bent upwards for the locking elements (as shown in → Fig., pos. 1)
q   Allocation via the → Electronic spare parts catalogue „ETKA“
17 - Synchromesh ring of 5th gear:
q   With locking elements (cast iron)
q   Check for wear → Fig.
18 - Locking collar with synchronising hub for 5th and 6th gear
q   Remove individually → Chapter
q   Remove together with the gearbox housing → Chapter
q   Dismantling and assembling → Fig. and → Fig.
q   The locking collar has been modified with gearboxes manufactured from week 24/2006 → Item
q   Adjust with gearboxes manufactured up to week 24/2006 → Fig.
q   Adjust with gearboxes manufactured from week 24/2006 → Fig.
q   Installation of spring washers with angled end for the locking elements → Fig.
19 - 6th gear synchro-ring
q   With lock → Fig.
q   Check for wear → Fig.
20 - Wave spring washer
q   With gearboxes manufactured from week 22/2008
q   Only install spring washers whose ends are not bent upwards for the locking elements (as shown in → Fig., pos. 1)

21 - Mobile pinion of 6th gear
22 - Needle bearing
q   For 6th gear
q   Replace along with the sleeve
23 - Thrust piece
q   For the 6th gear needle bearing
q   Replace together with needle bearing
24 - Thrust washer
q   For gearboxes manufactured up to week 34/2006
q   Allocation via the → Electronic spare parts catalogue „ETKA“
25 - Internal ring of the spherical roller bearing
q   For input shaft
q   Apply marking prior to removal
q   Do not confuse with the inner ring of the secondary shaft roller bearing socket
q   For gearboxes manufactured up to week 34/2006
q   Allocation → Fig.
26 - Internal ring of the spherical roller bearing with thrust washer
q   For input shaft
q   With gearboxes manufactured from week 34/2006
q   Allocation → Fig.
27 - Bolt with internal grooved head, tighten to 40 Nm + 1/2 turn (180°)
q   For input shaft
q   Self-locking
q   Always replace
