The selector lever lock solenoid -N110- locks the selector lever in position „P“. The selector lever can only be switched from the „P“ position when the ignition is turned on or the engine is running, the brake pedal has been depressed and the button on the selector lever is pressed → Chapter.
In the event of malfunctions in the supply voltage to the selector lever lock solenoid (discharged battery or defective fuse) or if the solenoid is defective the selector lever cannot be shifted out of position „P“. The vehicle cannot be moved, as the parking lock is engaged.
In that case:
–  check the fuses → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.
–  Check battery voltage → Rep. gr.27.
If fault finding has not been successful and selector lever can still not be shifted from „P“ the solenoid must be released manually. However, if the selector lever returns to the position „P“, it will be locked once again in position „P“.
Operation process

–  Hang out the trim -2 - and remove in the direction of the -arrows-.
  E34-10154

  Caution
The shift unit can only be renewed as a complete unit. If parts of the shift unit are damaged, the shift unit has to be renewed as a complete unit.
–  After unlocking the lever, press the button on the handle and move the selector lever from position „P“.
  Note
However, if the selector lever returns to position „P“, the electro-magnet will, once again, lock the lever in position „P“. The solenoid must be released once again.
