Check the ignition key withdrawal lock
   
Check the ignition key withdrawal lock
                            
   Start                     
     ↓                      
     ↓←←←←←←←←←←↑           
     ↓          ↑           
 
–  Put the gear selector lever into position „P“.
–  Switch ignition OFF.
–  Take out the ignition key.
  Faulty gear selection mechanism or steering lock.
–  Read the fault memory using the diagnosis centre -VAS 505X-.
–  Replace the faulty parts

     ↓          no           
     ↓          ↑           
 Can the gear selector lever be moved from position „P“ when the button is pressed?→Yes→Fault in lock lever?→Yes→
–  Correct the adjustment
 
     ↓          ↑           
     no          ↑

   Correct functioning        ↑           
     ↓          ↑           
     ↓          ↑           
 
–  Insert the ignition key
–  Depress brake
–  switch ignition on.
       ↑

     ↓          ↑           
 Can the gear selector lever be moved from position „P“ when the button is pressed?→no→→→→→↑

     ↓          ↑           
     Yes          ↑           
     ↓          ↑           
 
–  The selector lever must be free to move to the positions „R, N, D or even S“
     ↑

     ↓          ↑           
 Can the ignition key be removed?→→Yes→→↑←←←← no     
     ↓               ↑    
     no→→→
–  Depress brake
–  Put the gear selector lever into position „P“.
→The ignition key can be removed and the selector lever is locked in „P“. 
                      ↓     
                      Yes     
                      ↓     
                  The withdrawal lock is in order.
