Servicing shift mechanism
Adjusting starter inhibitor switch on right-hand drive vehicles
On right-hand drive vehicles the starter must not operate in selector lever positions "P" and "N" when the locking button in the selector lever handle is pressed. If this occurs, after adjustment, check starter inhibitor switch or starter inhibitor and reversing light relay -J226- according to current flow diagram.
Replacement part selector levers are pre-set.

‒ Selector lever in "P" position.

‒ Press indicator lighting bulb carrier onto stop on bulb carrier mounting.

‒ Slide locking lever under push rod. Press selector lever push rod against locking lever and hold in this position.

‒ Turn adjustment screw on bulb carrier until switch is closed.

‒ Now turn adjustment screw on bulb carrier until the switch current circuit is interrupted.

‒ Do not turn adjustment screw further, but to allow free-play turn adjustment screw a 1/4 turn in opposite direction.

◆ On right-hand drive vehicles the starter motor must only operate in selector lever positions "P" and "N" when the locking button in the selector lever handle is not pressed.
