Dismantling and assembling ATF pump
Replacement ATF pump parts and the ATF pump are allocated according to gearbox code.
1 - Piston ring
q   Checking that it is correctly located → Fig..
q   Fitting → Fig..
2 - Piston ring
q   Checking that it is correctly located → Fig..
q   Fitting → Fig..
3 - Piston ring
q   Checking that it is correctly located → Fig..
q   Fitting → Fig..
4 - Thrust washer
5 - Piston
q   Sealing lips are vulcanised to piston.
q   Moistening sealing lips with ATF before installing.
q   Turning piston slightly when installing.
6 - Bolt, 10 Nm
q   Then turn 45° further.
7 - Stator support
8 - Outer gear
q   Manufacturer's marking -arrow- faces stator support.
q   If outer gear is incorrectly installed, the ATF pump may not operate freely in the installed position.
9 - Inner gear
q   Larger groove faces stator support.
10 - Housing for ATF pump
11 - O-ring
q   Always renewing.
12 - Torque converter oil seal
q   Removing and installing → Chapter.

   
Checking seating of piston rings
–  Ensure that the ends of the piston rings are hooked together.

Fitting and hooking ends of piston ring together
–  Place piston ring in groove.
–  To hook ends together press sides of ring in and guide ends over one another.
–  Do not twist piston ring out of groove on one side.
