Removing and installing front side airbag with igniter
Side airbag igniter on driver side -N199-/ side airbag igniter on front passenger side -N200-
Removal
  WARNING
t  Safety regulations must be observed when working with pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Observe additional safety precautions for side airbags → Chapter.
t  Observe the regulations relating to the storage, transportation and disposal of airbag, belt tensioner and battery isolator units (pyrotechnic components) → Chapter.
–  Remove front seat → Chapter.
–  Remove front seat backrest → Chapter.
–  Remove backrest cover and cushion → Chapter.
–  Expose side airbag wiring harness from coupling station to side airbag.
   
–  Remove cushion from backrest in vicinity of side airbag until bolt -6- for side airbag is accessible.
–  Unscrew bolt -6- and put down.
–  Detach side airbag -5- from backrest frame at hooks -2, 3, 4- and remove, feeding side airbag wiring harness -1- through also.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following:
  WARNING
t  Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Before handling pyrotechnic components (e.g. connecting the electrical connector), the person handling them must ensure that he/she is „electrically discharged“. for example by briefly grasping hold of door striker plate.
Information for the fitter: for example tightening torques, renewing components → Chapter.
