Pinion shaft: Wear evaluation
Pinion shaft: Wear evaluation
l  Differential removed → Chapter.
l  Oil seal for pinion shaft removed → Chapter.
   
–  Check sealing surface of pinion shaft for scratches, rust pitting or other damage.
l  There should be no scratches or scoring on the sealing surface of the pinion shaft.
  Note
Even the slightest scratches or damage to the sealing surface of the pinion shaft will cause leaks, even with a new oil seal.
