Input shaft oil seal: replace
Input shaft oil seal: replace
t  If ATF emerges at underside of gearbox bell housing, oil seal for input shaft and/or ATF breather pipe may be leaking. Please establish the actual cause before replacing the part.
t  The radial shaft seal of the input shaft must be replaced when it leaks .
t  The ATF breather pipe must be renewed if leaking → Chapter.

Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Seal extractor -T40014-
  W00-1084
t  pressure tool -T40015-
  W00-1085
Operation process
l  Gearbox is removed.
–  Turn in the oil seal extractor -T40014- into the radial shaft seal by hand until the tool engages in the radial shaft seal. Then tighten tool using an open-end spanner.
–  Screwing in the rear bolt of the oil seal extractor will allow you to pull the shaft seal out a little.
–  Then tighten again using open-end spanner so that extractor once more engages securely in the oil seal. Screw in the rear part of the extractor once more to pull the oil seal out a bit further.
–  Repeat procedure until oil seal is pulled out all the way.
  Note
Input shaft must be installed prior to installing oil seal.
–  Lubricate new oil seal with ATF.

–  Slide oil seal -A- onto input shaft with open side facing gearbox.
  Note
Push oil seal as far as possible into cover to prevent it from jamming (tilting) when being driven in.

–  Drive seal with thrust piece -T40015- as far as the stop.
