Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence, when doing this note the following:

Vehicles with manual gearbox

• ‒ Check release bearing in slave cylinder for wear, renew slave cylinder with release bearing if necessary.
• ‒ Clean input shaft splines and lightly grease with G 000 100.

Continuation for all vehicles

• ‒ Check whether the dowel sleeves for centring engine/gearbox are in the cylinder block and install if necessary.
• ‒ Screw in all bolts on assembly mountings by hand approx. 5...6 turns.
• ‒ Align assembly mountings stress-free by rocking.

Note:

Assembly mounting tightening torques

• ‒ Install pendulum support:

=> Running gear; Repair group 40; Servicing front wheel mounting; I - Assembly overview, assembly carrier, anti-roll bar, wishbone

• ‒ Installing air conditioner compressor:

=> Heating, Air conditioning; Repair group 87; removing and installing compressor bracket

Vehicles with manual gearbox

• ‒ Connect pipe/hose on slave cylinder and secure with clip:

=> 5-Speed manual gearbox 006; Repair group 30; Assembly overview; hydraulics and clutch release mechanism

• ‒ Attach operating cable to gearbox, adjust if necessary:

=> 5-Speed manual gearbox 006; Repair group 34; Servicing selector mechanism; Removing and installing operating cables

• ‒ Install drive shafts.

=> Running gear; Repair group 40; Servicing drive shafts; Removing and installing drive shafts

Vehicles with automatic gearbox

• ‒ Install selector cable on gearbox, adjust if necessary:

=> Automatic gearbox 099; Repair group 37; Servicing selector mechanism

• ‒ Install drive shafts.

=> Running gear; Repair group 40; Servicing drive shafts; Removing and installing drive shafts.

Continuation for all vehicles

• ‒ Install P.A.S. vane pump with bracket:

=> Running gear; Repair group 48; Assembly overview: vane pump, reservoir, hydraulic pipes; Installing vane pump.

• ‒ Install front exhaust pipe => Page 26-2, removing and installing parts of exhaust system.
• ‒ Fill with coolant => Page 19-10
• ‒ Electrical connections and routing:

=> Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations

• ‒ Matching engine electronics control unit to electronic immobilizer

=> Repair group 23; Servicing Diesel direct injection system; Matching engine electronics control unit to electronic immobilizer

• ‒ Interrogate fault memory:

=> Repair group 01; Self-diagnosis; Interrogating fault memory
