Heating performance of the air conditioning system (Climatic / Climatronic): check > < Notes on repair work to vehicles with air conditioning and on handling refrigerant
Check conditions:
Check conditions:
l  The ambient air temperature is above 15 °C.
l  The radiator and condenser are clean; clean if they are not.
l  The compressor Poly-V belt is in good condition and properly tensed.
l  All air flow ducts, protective covers, gaskets/seals are in good condition and correctly fitted.
l  Air flow through dust and pollen filter not impeded by dirt
l  The fresh air is taken in through the fresh-air intake ducts in the engine compartment and in the interior.
l  The water drainage valves in the fresh air intake ducts in the engine compartment are in good condition.
l  The vehicle should not be in direct sunlight
l  The engine must be warm.
l  Consult the fault memory and erase it.
l  Perform the basic configuration.
l  All aerators on the dashboard are open.
l  The bonnet is closed.
l  Settings for the control and indication unit -E87-:
–  Operation mode „Auto“.
–  Temperature selection „LO“.
–  Compressor activated (the light on the „ECON“ button lights up).
l  Functions with the engine is running:
–  The radiator fan -V7- runs (at least: Level 1)
–  The fresh air blower -V2- is running at maximum speed.
–  The fresh air / air recirculation flap is located in the „air recirculation“ position (approx. 1 minute after starting engine, air is drawn in by the fresh air blower -V2- to the front passenger's footwell)
  Note
If any of these conditions are not fulfilled during the test, consult the fault memory and perform and actuator diagnostic → Vehicle diagnostic tester.
