| The Climatronic control unit -J255- is located in the dash panel insert in one component together with air conditioning system/Climatronic operating and display unit -E87-. To enable quick detection of a fault when a component fails or there is an open circuit, the control unit is equipped with a fault memory which can be read using vehicle diagnosis testing and information system -VAS 5051-. |
| Should a fault be detected in one of the monitored sensors or components, it is stored in the fault memory. |
| If a fault has been stored, the Climatronic will be switched off either partially or entirely depending on the severity of the fault. |
